Lion Alan Douglas receives The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award
Lions Clubs world-wide recognize outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named for after its founder, Melvin Jones. This award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism.
Lion President Mark Whitfield, (left) and the District Governor Ian Haffner presented Lion Alan Douglas, who is our only remaining Charter member, with The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, for giving over 40 years of service to the community of Balsall Common.
Lion Steve Greensides
Steve is recently retired and wanted to put something back in the community and from a chance meeting with us on our Santa sleigh run showed an interest in Lions.
We are very pleased to have him on board and he will be a valuable asset to the club.
Peace Poster Shield
“Peace Poster shield as winner of the Lions District competition was presented to Angeli Fernando of Heart of England School.” In the picture with Angeli are Lion Steve Meakin, Service Chairman (left) and Andrew Livingstone, Deputy Head, Heart of England School.

This is the first time Balsall Common Lions club has presented such an award, and it is hoped that many more students will participate in the scheme.”
Both Rebecca and Jo hoped to go on to complete 100 hours of Service to achieve a Gold Award.
