Lion Alan Douglas receives The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award

IMG_9974Lions Clubs world-wide recognize outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named for after its founder, Melvin Jones.  This award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism.

Lion President Mark Whitfield, (left) and the District Governor Ian Haffner presented Lion Alan Douglas, who is our only remaining Charter member, with The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, for giving over 40 years of service to the community of Balsall Common.

Steve is recently retired and wanted to put something back in the community and from a chance meeting with us on our Santa sleigh run showed an interest in Lions.

We are very pleased to have him on board and he will be a valuable asset to the club.
