Members of Kettering and District Lions club visited the Skylark children’s ward at Kettering General Hospital to watch Matthew the Magician entertain the children in the ward with a show of conjuring and balloon animal making.
Matthew provided the entertainment on behalf of the POD Children’s Charity, which enables monthly magic shows in many children’s hospitals. Kettering Lions were delighted to donate £600 to POD for 12 magic shows for KGH Skylark ward. We were very impressed by Matthew’s ability to hold the children’s attention with his conjuring tricks and balloon modelling, with every child receiving a balloon animal. No children were left out, as he then visited the children’s side rooms, for those unable to attend the show, and performed his tricks at their bedsides, and gave them balloons. The units play leader, Trisha Brigden said that the children always enjoy the magic show, which makes their hospital stay a better experience and this aids their recovery.
