Four budding leaders of the future were given special service awards by Hinckley and Burbage Lions Club recently.
They were members of Hinckley Air Cadets who earned their young leaders service awards, after doing many hours of voluntary community work.
Lions President Sue Patrick and club secretary Cynthia Lines went along to their Brunel Road HQ to make the presentations.
On the night, only two of the cadets were able to receive their gold ward certificates. They were Jason Pemberton and Tim Martin-Jones.
The Cadet corps had also taken part in the Lions club’s sponsored walk around Bosworth Battlefield and the Lions were given a cheque for £514, as their half of the shared sponsorship from Chris Parry, Squadron Commanding Officer.
This means that the Air Cadets will be able to use their portion of the money to boost their own fundraising activities, while the Hinckley and Burbage Lions Club can use theirs to support other worthy causes in the community.
If you would like to join the Lions, or need their support you can contact them at the Plough Inn in Hinckley, where they meet every second Monday of the month. Or check out their website for contact details.
