Kettering Lions Club recently introduced their Community Grant Scheme, Inviting applications from local charities, organisations and clubs needing help to start or complete their projects. A number of worthy causes applied, from which 6 were finally chosen, each receiving an award of £500.
A presentation event was held and each charity received their cheque from Lion Club President, Malcolm Harris. In thanking the Lions, each recipient team leader gave a short talk saying what the club or charity did, and how they would spend the money and the benefits that it would bring.
The organisations represented were Accommodation Concern; Equate, a riding charity helping children within the autistic spectrum; Isham Guiding Centre; Kettering Car Scheme which transports people to their medical appointments; Kettering School of Boxing; The Eden Centre, based in the Open Door Church, providing meals, food and clothing to the homeless and needy.
A buffet rounded off the friendly evening at which approx. 50 people enjoyed swapping information, about their varied activities.
